06/15/2007
My boyfriend and I tried this recipe with a few tweaks and we LOVED it. Nosotros used cilantro instead of parsley, brown rice instead of white rice and added about 1/4 tsp of cumin. Sooooo good. I take already recommended it to all of my friends!
06/nineteen/2001
This was wonderful! My kids and husband loved information technology...the just thing I would do different side by side time is mix the cheese in with the rice mixture...volition definately be making this over again! Thanks... A+
12/13/2001
Non vegetarian then I made information technology with ground turkey chest and information technology was very expert and easy.
11/12/2005
This repast was very good. However, since I'm on a low carb nutrition, I used Taboli instead of white rice. Still turned out very good. Brand extra stuffing and so you lot can freeze it, then all you demand to do is buy more peppers, microwave the stuffing mix, and stuff the peppers once more. Washed in like 45 min.
10/23/2001
These were delicious! It calls for i/2 pound of TVP....I used ane 1/2 Cups dehydrated TVP and rehydrated it before adding it to the mix. I also added mozzarella and parmesan cheese to the mixture and it was scrumptious!!
04/12/2000
Best stuffed peppers I've had! I suggest Boca brand crumbles and I too used spaghetti sauce. 1 thing I'd do differently next time is wait to put the cheese on terminal.
01/20/2001
These brand a not bad meal. I added a fifteen ounce can of diced tomatoes to stretch the recipe to v peppers and to add together a bit of zing. Shredded cheddar cheese as well works in place of the mozzarella. A very yummy dish!
08/ten/2001
Not bad simply I've had amend. They don't piece of work the 2d twenty-four hour period either which is something I count on with blimp peppers. They were mushy the second dark. Won't brand these again.
08/09/2007
These were by far the all-time stuffed peppers I have ever had! I tin't expect to make them once more! I followed the recipe and idea it was perfect the fashion it was! Side by side fourth dimension I will try chocolate-brown rice to add some cobweb! I really used a little less tomato plant sauce than it called for because I didn't want to open some other can (I was about 1/4 cup short) and I thought information technology turned out dandy!
03/02/2011
Substituted 1 cup black beans for the veggie protein and used orange peppers and a little fresh garlic. Otherwise did verbal recipe and information technology was deelish and looked so professional. I cut the pepper tops off sitting upright not laying down as in the above picture show. My whole family LOVED information technology, and I will definitely make again! I am a vegetarian and it is not e'er easy to brand dishes that nosotros all will consume and that are so satisfying. My kids kept saying it was like eating a burrito!
09/12/2009
HYDROLIZED vegetable protein is the source of glutamate, not Textured Vegetable Protein. TVP is a MEAT SUBSTITUTE. This is a VEGETARIAN alternative.
07/05/2011
textured vegetable protien (TVP) is a nice way to say "soy meal" it i sold in higher finish and natural foods grocers. TVP is a substitute for basis meat. TVP has a meat-like texture and absorbs liquid and flavour from what it is cooked in.
04/04/2011
Succulent. I used ane cup black beans every bit my vegetable protein. Did need to add a lot of S+P for season, but was good when I added the right amount. I likewise cut the tiptop off and cooked them upright. Even my carnivore boyfriend liked them! :) Thank you, will apply this recipe over again!
10/16/2010
This was yummy! I used cilantro instead of parsley, leftover spaghetti sauce instead of tomato sauce and threw in a can of diced italian seasoned tomatoes nigh three minutes earlier I took the stuffing off the stove. Too, try parboiling the peppers before stuffing: wash and seed, so put the pepper shells into a pot of water and turn on the stove. Let the water come up to a boil then remove the peppers and let absurd til you lot're fix with the stuffing. The texture is perfect!
07/27/2011
Favorite! Added Ground Turkey in identify of Vegetable protein.
07/01/2011
this is great i mixed in taco/chilli seasoning into my protein veg & cooked it with sweetness yellow onion, mushrooms, and minced fresh garlic. Instead of parsley I used cillantro. I stuffed the peppers & covered them with shredded cheese - so placed them in a program with a uncomplicated garlic spaghetti sauce. Information technology came out awesome! I will make this again.
02/x/2010
Excellent! Used chocolate-brown rice (heathlier) and cooked it in vegetable broth for more flavor. To make it easier I added the onion and peppers to the rice half way through the cooking process. (used red, yellowish, and orange peppers) When the rice was finished I added the TVP, tomato plant sauce, fresh herbs (orgango, thyme, parsley), and garlic correct into the same pot. I used more tomato sauce since I did not utilize the olive oil. I cooked as directed and it came out great. My meat eating husband loved it. I too used low fat mixure of a mexian alloy of chesse on height. I would highly recommed this reciepe. It is an easy reciepe to experiment with and add your own touches.
05/02/2011
Had no idea what vegetable protein was, lol. So I but substituted a tin of black beans. They were swell and my family loved them!! Will brand them this manner all the time, since I already have a family Stuffed Pepper recipe that uses ground beef/turkey. These are a adept vegetarian alternative.
05/23/2000
I really cheated a chip and replaced the vegetable protein for ground turkey! (I know... shame on me!)I besides added some corn and some mexican seasoning....very yummy! My hubby and kids loved it.
02/28/2011
I make these a lot, using brownish rice, and half peppers as is shown in the photo. I put half a pepper in a small oven proof dish, and make every bit many every bit needed for that meal. The filling keeps very well in the refrigerator or in the freezer, and the peppers go along in the refrigerator for several days. If I put the peppers in the freezer, they come out mushy, but I simply pile the filling on summit and they gustatory modality fine. Only non as crunchy every bit a fresh pepper would exist.
06/17/2011
I served these at a dinner party with a few tweaks at it worked out great! I already had a lot of cooked white rice, so I used that. I did not use vegetable protein. I also didn't use half of the bell pepper in the stuffing and made 2 from each pepper. Instead of tomato sauce, I used store-bought spaghetti sauce. I had to broil only for 20 min.
03/11/2011
I'g sorry to say this recipe was just okay. It needed a lot of salt and pepper to doctor information technology up. I think if cheese were mixed into the stuffing that would also exist helpful. But otherwise it was bland. Won't make again!
09/xvi/2007
They were pretty good. I did accept to add a lot of spices because they were a little bland.
01/12/2014
This was excellent, I added 1 1/2 teaspoons Italian sausage seasoning (bachelor at a spice shop) when I added the TVP and omitted the parsley used an organic basmati whole grain rice, and everyone loved the season of the dish, this is definitely 1 to make for company.
09/29/2002
very easy to make, groovy vegetarian meal. recipe tin can be easily halved, and peppers all the same gustation neat equally leftovers.
02/10/2011
Simple and yummy!! You can apply whatever cheese you like, I used Colby Jack. Besides I used cilantro and basil. :)
05/21/2000
I frequently brand this with my own love apple sauce, or with colored bell peppers. Information technology's absolutely succulent whatever I practise with information technology though. Unproblematic, even so information technology always delivers.
02/28/2011
To STEVE02A... Textured Vegetable Protein (tvp) is but cereal. I was turned on to it when I was having game meat processed and information technology was used in identify of suet. whatever store with a bulk health foods department should have it. its pretty mutual and not as well bad.
05/fifteen/2000
Wow! These were really yummy!! I haven't had Stuffed Peppers for 10 years since I became a vegetarian and these were even ameliorate than I remembered!! And my husband liked them too!! They are a new staple for us!! Thanks for sharing this great recipe!!
08/10/2011
Nosotros fabricated this following the recipe and it was terrible. We're non vegetarian, merely I don't retrieve fifty-fifty basis beef would accept fixed this recipe. I actually concluded upwards stuffing the last blimp pepper down the disposal. What a waste matter!
03/04/2007
This was a terrific recipe: filling, easy, and succulent. Next time I think I'll use more table salt/pepper, more tomato sauce, and add some mixed herbs for more than flavour. Even my meat-eating married man loved these!
xi/21/2010
Great recipe! I used chickpeas instead of the TVP and left out the onion. Will definitely make over again and now I have an excuse to get those cute pepper-shaped single-serve ramekins.
08/25/2010
Very tasty, filling and good for you if you utilize brown rice and definitely farmer's market peppers! The recipe calls for 2 cups of lycopersicon esculentum sauce, which is a bit much. I as well adopt mixing the cheese into the sauce. It works well with Boca soy crumbles or I suppose you could substitute ground beefiness or turkey.
11/10/2008
This was pretty good. I omitted the vegetable poly peptide and subbed cheddar for the mozzarella. I as well added two big cloves of garlic minced when sauteing the onions. I also added 1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese to the rice mixture.
06/04/2011
Both my husband and I loved it! I added a fleck more tomato sauce, some garlic and used chocolate-brown rice instead of white.
01/30/2011
This is a good recipe to start with- just work to customize information technology! My swain doesn't like tomatoes very much, then instead of adding the tomato sauce, I added near 2 tbsp of ketchup. If information technology started to become dry in the pan when I was mixing it, I would just add a petty chicken stock. I besides swaped out the beefiness for turkey. We like information technology a little spicy, so I also added well-nigh 2 tbsp of Sirachi (Rooster) Sauce for a prissy kicking. Also, instead of letting the rice simmer and melt, I chose to utilize a rice cooker to fully cook the rice, and just stir information technology in at the end, making certain all of the sauces completely comprehend the rice. Fairly simple recipe, and delicious. I love stuffed peppers! :-)
05/03/2011
This was pretty skilful but I call back the filling could employ some more vegetables. Mayhap some mushrooms?
11/12/2006
Yum...i made this recipe with ground chicken instead and it turned out great...next fourth dimension i will mix the cheese inside the peppers instead of simply on meridian.
03/13/2011
WOW, these were delicious! Took a lot longer than 25 min. prep time b/c I used grnd turkey instead of TVP. I normally hate blimp peppers, simply this I loved. Cheers, KDCG.
11/02/2014
My married man and I couldn't get plenty! Will definitely make this again and once more. Only changes I made were to use crimson peppers instead of light-green. Added some garlic, cumin, and Anaheim peppers and mixed in the mozzarella cheese with the filling :) yummy!! Highly recommend!
02/28/2011
Yummy!!! I used ruby and yellow peppers instead. I find the greenish ones to exist too strong.
06/xiv/2011
I love this! I make this dish in one case a month for myself. I usually don't share... I adopt to go on them all to myself:-) Thank you:-)
08/27/2011
My husband and I loved this recipe. Since I didn't have any textured vegetable protein I used ground pork sausage because it has a nice spicy flavor and I thought information technology would go well with this recipe. It was so delicious, easy, and filling. I will definitely exist making once more!
04/07/2014
Used some other reviewers suggestions such as using a tin can of beans for protein and 1/4 tsp. of cumin and garlic sautéed with the onion. I will try with some more spices next fourth dimension. I used a wild rice blend. I was quite hungry and thought the peppers looked pretty cooked at 22 min. so I put some cheese (soy cheese for hubby and I) on, turned the oven off and let it set in the warm oven for several minutes. The peppers turned out to be a bit crispy withal which didn't carp me, but I'chiliad guessing they could've used some more cook time. This is a keeper.
03/01/2011
If yous had more stars i'd give them, This is the best. We all loved this recipe, and i dear the way yous cut them, so i did that too and it was great ,and i love the way it looked, really prissy.
12/eleven/2011
Good vegetarian main dish. I used brown rice instead of white and good jarred spaghetti sauce instead of the tomato sauce and added fresh garlic in with the onions merely used everything else as listed. The dish was really good. The adjacent twenty-four hour period I sliced the left over pepper and put in a french roll. Tasted just like a meatball sub lol. Thanks!
08/16/2007
I really similar this recipe. I had issues with the rice non cooking completely, so I started cooking brown rice separately and then mixing in the cooked rice earlier baking. This has worked very well. I also add chopped garlic and use orangish and yellow bell peppers instead of green.
02/14/2011
I added diced tomatoes to this, every bit well equally a mixture of lentils and barley, which works dandy every bit a filler for meatless dishes. Information technology tasted even better the side by side day. Excellent!
05/28/2010
These were great. The second fourth dimension I made them I added a trivial bit of mrs dash seasoning which added some nice season.
08/21/2011
Made this recipe with Gimme Lean sausage and added mushrooms as well. Yum!
ten/05/2014
Used carmine pep
08/14/2010
I gave four stars b/c I did things different. All in all information technology was very expert. I used red and xanthous peppers (sweeter, prettier). I boiled the pepper halfs in water until tender, cooked the rice seperate. I sauted the oinion with a clove of garlic,i/4 tsp of cumin, thyme, oregano then added the tvp and salt and pepper. Stuffed the peppers w/cooked rice, topped with tvp mixture, topped with pasta sauce topped with shredded marble chedder cheese. Cooked until cheese was aureate dark-brown. This was the first time I used tvp and everyone liked it.
02/07/2011
this was really adept. I added a clove of garlic and put a fiddling bit of white wine in the bottom of the pan earlier covering it to bake. It was delish. Held really well, had leftovers the side by side day and the peppers notwithstanding had texture.
06/17/2009
I used this as a base recipe and made some changes. I used green, yellow, and cherry peppers, ground beef, and 1/2 c. cheddar cheese. I used condensed tomato soup instead of love apple sauce. And I seasoned the filling with some paprika, chili pulverisation, and common salt and pepper. Very good and non besides time-consuming.
03/11/2011
Splendid..........we used hamburger with red and orange peppers. It is something I will brand oft.
11/20/2011
This was the most bland recipe - ever. To fix this I added a can of diced tomatoes seasoned with basil, garlic and oregano. I also added extra Italian seasoning, some garlic, onion powder, celery, crushed reddish pepper flakes, and used real beef.
07/xv/2010
Woot! A vegetarian recipe! These were fabulous! I take not had stuffed peppers since I was a lil girl! Trip down mem lane. I added adobo seasoning mix and some chopped cilantro.
04/28/2011
This recipe was so delicious! I wasn't quite sure what vegetable protein was so I instead added tofu and information technology turned out astonishing. I didn't have any Mozzarella cheese either and then I substituted that with Parmesan cheese and it was still great. I tin't wait to make this once again!
09/15/2004
I used Morningstar Farms Grillers Burger-Manner Recipe Crumbles instead of textured veg. poly peptide for a more authentic taste. This is a great recipe for vegetarian stuffed peppers, especially equally we caput into the colder months.
11/xiii/2012
With the changes I made, I requite this v stars. I used Quinoa instead of rice. Quinoa is very low in Cholesterol and Sodium. It is likewise a good source of Magnesium and Phosphorus, and a very adept source of Manganese. One loving cup has viii.14 grams of poly peptide. I also used 1/3 cup of taco seasoning, 1 can of drained and rinsed black peppers and topped the cooked peppers with salsa. They were succulent and very nutritious!
06/24/2010
An instant classic at our house! Our variations have been brown rice and garlic for a starter. Cilantro, cumin, chili powder and some sort of Mexican cheese (asadero or queso fresca) for a Tex-Mex twist. Basil and spaghetti sauce and parmesean for Italian flavour. Our son HATES bell peppers simply eats this like it'due south goin' outta style.
07/24/2014
We substituted lean footing beef for the textured vegetable poly peptide and used well-nigh 3 cups of tomato sauce. We like it saucy. ??. Otherwise succulent!!
03/22/2000
This is a terrific, like shooting fish in a barrel recipe! When I told my husband I was making Stuffed Peppers for dinner, he wasn't happy until he tasted these. It was a big hit in our family. Nosotros did utilise spaghetti sauce instead of plain tomato sauce considering we happened to have some left over from a previous recipe, but I am sure the recipe tastes bang-up with tomato plant sauce. We have tried other recipes with TVP in them and they tasted horrible, but non here. This recipe has definitely been added to our recipe collection!
02/04/2011
excellent. Used Turkey, smaller amt of love apple sauce, garlic, cumin, fresh cilantro, basil, chili pepper and mrs. nuance italian seasoning. Could add a trivial table salt. par boil the peppers.
01/eleven/2011
No idea what vegetable poly peptide is - I browned lean ground turkey instead and used left over pasta sauce. Delish!
06/29/2006
I used red peppers because I like the flavour. The TVP really gave it substance and actually tasted pretty good (and I'm not a vegetarian). You need a lot more than love apple sauce so proceed some on mitt.
04/28/2011
TVP is crumbled up dried soy something.. anyway, you can go it at Bulk Barn (in Canada) and it is a great substitute for ground beef or turkey.
05/xvi/2009
Delicious, and non as well time consuming. I cut the recipe to 1 serving, as nobody in my business firm is vegetarian merely me, and used soy "ground beef" instead of TVP, and it was soooo good. Thanks!
02/14/2011
used a variety of colored peppers for visual interest and taste. It was a smash hit. will make it again.
09/21/2014
I used dark-brown rice and added blackness beans and xanthous squash. The plough her olfactory organ up at everything child had 2 peppers.
09/08/2013
I plant Textured Vegetable Protien (Bob's Red Mill brand) at the broil goods section in my grocery store First time cooking with TVP, Forgot to rehydrate the stuff before putting in preparation big mistake! Plow out very dry with no season. Would try once more the correct way hoping it will would sense of taste better.
05/thirty/2010
TVP is soy protein, bachelor at most majority food stores. I use it quite often as a substitute for hamburg.
06/10/2012
Very delish recipe! I fabricated it only like the recipe said and information technology turned out perfect! I used Morning Star crumbles for the vege protein and y'all couldn't even tell it wasn't real ground beef. My hubby loved them too and he is a meat kinda guy. Can't expect to make it again shortly.
03/29/2012
Delicious! Made as written, and the family loved it - including the picky 7-year-sometime. My husband has requested I put this in the "family favourites" binder.
01/26/2009
These peppers are absolutely fabulous! Being that I am not a vegetarian, I added hot Italian sausage in place of the vegetable poly peptide. Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing. These are just divine!
05/fourteen/2012
Honey this recipe, instead of tomatoe sauce, I used vegetable speghatti sauce and it turned out crawly!
02/08/2012
I made these for a dinner with friends. I went for more of a fiesta theme and I used rotel instead of tomato plant sauce, mexican cheese instead of mozzarella, and added taco seasoning. Tasted groovy!
07/23/2010
This was very good, piece of cake to prepare with ingredients on manus. I made this recipe with home grown bell peppers and roma tomatos. I used vegan Chorizo in place of the textured vegetable protein as office of the rice ingredients. The Chorizo was well seasoned so extra seasoning in the rice was not necessary. Great idea for left over rice or bumper crop of bell peppers!
08/31/2009
Great recipe! I made a few small modifications - mixed in some cheese with the rice mixture, used a can of northern beans instead of TVP, and put a little basil and oregano in the filling. Will definitely brand again!
04/19/2012
My swain made this dish for the family and information technology was cracking. (Even better the next twenty-four hours). He used xanthous bells, ground turkey and basil instead of tofu and oregano and brown instead of white rice. We'd honey to try it with the tofu adjacent time.
03/fifteen/2014
This was pretty good. It was the beginning fourth dimension I tried these and am pleasantly impressed. I added about half an ounce of crimson vino vinegar and a sliver of jalapeno to requite information technology some edge.
12/thirty/2013
Textured vegetable protein is a vegetarian substitute for ground beef made from soy. You tin can detect it in the vegetarian section of the refrigerated food alley information technology tastes good, or you lot can just use ground beef I guess.
04/xiv/2010
I really enjoyed this as did my girl. I didn't add the TVP because I never heard of it. I may add a touch of cheyenne pepper next time.
12/03/2011
Did Non use vegetable protein...instead used ground turkey. Added some turmeric, cajun seasoning and saracha sauce to the filling. I also had used three large peppers and concluded up needing the same amount of filling ingredients. Overall, good recipe...just add meat if you're non a fan of or accept no thought what textured vegetable poly peptide is. haha
03/09/2010
Simple, great veggie stuffed pepper recipe. It is sometimes hard to find them without meat and the TVP (which past the way stands for Texturized Vegetable Protein and is a vegetarian substitute for meat) adds some substance. Added a couple of extra spices to personalize information technology a bit but otherwise adept stuff. Thanks!
04/24/2012
I idea this recipe was actually skillful. My household responded positively to it despite the fact in that location was no meat. I actually substituted the TVP with black beans and used brown rice. I too added different spices and hot sauces to brand the end result a scrap spicier. All in all, the meal was well received.
08/xiii/2008
This was a very good recipe.I added a lilliputian garlic powder to mine, but it would have still been a great dish with out it.
12/30/2014
I call back the vegetable protein is vegetable broth.
07/03/2012
These were absolutely fantastic and will definitely be going into our repertoire of menu items:-) I used the Boca Ground Crumbles...and 2 red plus 2 dark-green peppers to add a trivial color. We too did not take white rice, so I used Jasmine rice. Otherwise, left it exactly the same. I will say that the prep fourth dimension for me was effectually fifty minutes, but soooo worth it!
07/18/2007
pretty adept. i used ground turkey and a can of diced tomatoes in juice seasoned with basil/oregano/garlic. Still a piffling bland, adjacent time I retrieve i'll put cheese all the way through it instead of only on the top.
01/26/2010
I thought that these were very good. I used chocolate-brown rice instead of white and wasn't able to become fresh parsley so I just used the spices I around (which for me commonly means garlic salt & all spice sadly). I besides used the boca crumbles equally the TVP in the recipe like some other users accept. I stirred in some cheese with the stuffing mixtured to get in extra cheesy considering I'm a big fan of cheese. Other than that I pretty much followed the recipe and I thought it turned out pretty well. I will probably make these again. Perhaps with real meat next fourth dimension. (I made them for a vegetarian friend of mine)
12/21/2010
I used barley instead of rice, iv oz of ground beef for protein, and shredded mexican alloy cheese vice mozzarella. I call back the recipe would have benefited from some diced jalapenos as well.
12/10/2009
even the fiddling ones ate them :)
02/09/2010
I really loved this dinner! I added chic peas to requite information technology a little thicker consistancy. It was actually pretty like shooting fish in a barrel too! Thank y'all!
02/01/2010
(In response to Q) TVP: I take seen stale in a bag or in the frozen land sold as veggie burger crumbles. Information technology is a good source of poly peptide for vegetarians and fairly bland so it tin be used in any recipe you wish, but flavor to taste. I recommend using brown rice for the extra nutrients and flavor!
07/08/2012
These are actually good. The only matter I changed was I did not have TVP as I live in a small town and no one here carries that, I substituted navy white beans, I precooked them to well-nigh washed and precooked the rice to washed. I left tops on my peppers, for appearance.
01/fifteen/2013
This was a delicious vegetarian blimp pepper recipe! I used all of the ingredients except the textured vegetable protein considering I couldn't observe information technology in the grocery store; instead, I used stuffing.
03/27/2008
this was a proficient base of operations recipe simply i had to add a few things to brand it a bit more than tasty.instead of parsley i used coriander, besides added dried basil and some garlic powder.i mixed the cheese into rice mixture but also added some chedder for extra flavor.i also needed to use more than h2o and then the recipe said to cook the rice.used red and yellow peppers, non keen on dark-green!turned out lovely will make again thanks
